Our
Projects
Ready to build something that lasts?
Every project starts with a tree — and a conversation.
Whether you have a tree that needs salvaging, a slab in mind for a custom build, or a DIY idea you’re ready to tackle, we’re here to help.
Let’s talk about what it could become.
Where Conservation Meets Craft
At Coastal Saw and Slab, we believe a good tree deserves a second life.
We specialize in salvaging trees that would otherwise be cut up and hauled away — storm-fallen, removed, or retired from the landscape — and milling them into slabs that carry their history forward. Most of our material is sourced locally along the coast, though we’ll travel throughout the Mid-Atlantic for a tree with the right character.
Every slab tells its own story. Grain lines shaped by wind, knots formed over decades, imperfections that make it real. No two pieces are alike — and that’s exactly the point.
We mill using a Granberg Alaskan Mill and air-dry our lumber the old-fashioned way. One to two years. No rushing the process. Proper drying takes time, and time is what ensures strength, stability, and longevity. We’re not interested in shortcuts — we’re interested in doing it right.
Sustainability isn’t a trend for us. It’s a responsibility. Salvaging local trees keeps valuable hardwood out of landfills and turns it into furniture, tables, bars, shelving, and heirloom pieces that will last for generations.
We’re currently finishing our Maple slab inventory and preparing to begin our White Oak collection. We also offer slabs and cookies for DIY builders and makers — and we’re always willing to share advice on sanding, finishing oils, coats, and proper techniques.
Before you discard a tree, consider what it could become.
